Happy festive time everyone! Either it's Halloween for you, Día de los Muertos, All Saints' Day (Wszystkich Świętych), All Souls' Day (Zaduszki) or any other celebration that exists in your culture ❤️
I know I was quite absent during the October, but November I'll do my best to be double active here ;)
Today, as a gift for this special festive time I have for you new magical career, not really a scary one, unless you perceive a politician career as something scary (sometimes they are terrifying, aren't they ;) ) - so Magic Governance.
Requires Realm of Magic.
!!!For this mod you need also XML injector (the current version).!!!
It has 10 levels. After the 5th level you can choose 1 out of 3 branches:
Department of Magical Research & Regulation (top level: High Chancellor of Magic)
Department of Interrealm Relations (top level: High Ambassador of Magic)
Department of Magical Law & Enforcement (top level: Grand Arbiter of Magic Realm Tribunal)
It is designed for Spellcasters because requires reaching spellcaster ranks for promotion. (Unless you'll cheat these objectives, then you can assign any Sim to it).
As an exception from my other magic careers, this one takes into consideration regular University degrees: Communication or Economics (for performance and salary), because I thought that actually it might be a benefit also in a magic politician world.

I am very excited to present you new version of Magical Governance mod.
In this new version I expanded significantly the mod, by transforming it into semi-active career. I added a lot of new interactions and tasks, even new events, and I really feel this is now full and meaningful career that is adding a lot to spellcasters world. It took me almost entire January to do it, I was constantly adding new things to my to-do list for this mod. Then I got stuck with updates for February patch, and then I finally returned to it, tested, fixed minor issues and here it is. I am really happy of how it turned :)
Now your Sims can study artifacts and perhaps get Cursed along the way. And they can collect support for their new regulations. Or maybe they will host an Interrealm Summit where they will encourage Occult Sims to support new interrealm agreement. Or maybe you prefer to gather evidence in a magical incident case and eventually detain a guilty Sim? All depends on which branch of the career you'll choose :)
I will list what has been added to each branch:
GENERAL BRANCH:
1) Several new home assignments:
- Search for Tomes
- Practice Practical Magic
- Experiment with Cauldron
- Read Magic Books
- Conduct a Census (new interaction added)
- Issue Broom Permit (new interaction added)
- Issue Wand Permit (new interaction added)
- Retrieve Council Correspondance (new interaction added to mailbox)

2) New Career Tone added (action to be performed when Sim is at work): Write Protocols (this will add new protocols item to Sim's inventory)
RESEARCH & REGULATIONS BRANCH:
1) Several new home assignments:
- few assignments taken from general branch
- Practice Mischief Magic
- Practice Untamed Magic
- Practice Speech
- Instruct About Safety Standards (new interaction added)
- Study Artifacts (new interaction added to many collectible objects that might be artifacts, not only wands or crystals, but also e.g. frogs, omiscan artifacts, werewolf relics, sugar skulls, feathers, voodoo doll, gnomes etc.)
- Confiscate Artifact (new interaction added)
- Search for Disturbances (new interaction added)
- Brew Potions
- Activate Relics (with Jungle Adventure GP)
- Craft Herbal Remedies (with Outdoor Retreat)
- Crypt Finding (with Life & Death EP)
- Exorcise the Lot (with Paranormal Stuff SP)
- Gemology Crafting (with Crystal Creations SP)
- Wear Charged Jewelry (with Crystal Creations SP)
- Craft Nature Medicine (with Enchanted by Nature EP)
- Find Source of Unstable Magic
2) New Career Tone added (action to be performed when Sim is at work):
- Write Regulations - as a result Sim will get new regulation to their inventory which will require getting new supporting signatures from other spellcasters
- Get Signature - as a result Sim will get support signature
3) Study Magical Artifact mechanism - you can study various collectibles or search for disturbances in any area to search for unstable magic. Most of objects and places are safe, but sometimes you'll find unstable magic, and it may result in being cursed, or even all Sims at the lot will get cursed. This work is not easy-peasy. You can also confiscate artifacts.
4) New requirement for promotion - Publish new Regulation
To publish a regulation, you'll need to get support. You can talk to spellcasters and Advocate for New Regulation to boost your chance for the support, but they will not always get convinced. Sometimes, they'll get discouraged. Once you get required number of support, you can publish a regulation.
INTERREALM RELATIONS BRANCH
1) Several new home assignments:
- few assignments taken from general branch
- Practice Mischief Magic
- Practice Untamed Magic
- Practice Speech
- Practice Debate
- Discuss Diplomatic Strategies (new interaction added with Sages)
- Encourage Support from various Occults group (this is new interaction, depending on the packs you'll have, e.g. if you have Island Living you can get a task Encourage Support from Mermaids, but if you don't have this pack, you won't get such task)
- Calm Concerns About Magic (new interaction added directed towards non-occult Sims)
- De-escalate tensions (new interaction added directed towards occult Sims)
- Review Treaty (new interaction added to the new book object - Codex of Interrealm Treaties)
- Remove Memory of Sim (new interaction added to non-occult Sims, it will completely remove relations between target Sim and picked Sim, like they never met, or almost, because I was not able to remove all things)
- Remove Memory of Recent Events (new interaction added, it will remove all moodlets of target Sim, leaving them dizzy)
2) New Career Tone added (action to be performed when Sim is at work):
- Manage Public Information - it doesn't always result in positive outcome
- Encourage Support - as a result your Sim will get new Seal of Endorsement into their inventory
3) New requirement for promotion - Codify Interrealm Agreement
This is why you need to seek for occult Sims support. Once you get required number of Seals of Endorsement, you can codify new agreement. Some interactions will make it harder to get a support, and some will make it easier (e.g. talking to Sage about Diplomatic Strategies).
4) New event - Interrealm Summit
You can invite various Occult Sim, but also non-occult Sims, if they work in Politics! (it must be political branch of Activist career, and it's a optional invitee). As a reward you can of course get new Seals of Endorsement.
5) 12 New speech topic and debate topics - it's connected with the event, but it will be available also outside the event to any Sim from Magical Governance career, not only from this branch.
LAW & ENFORECEMENT BRANCH:
1) Several new home assignments:

- Practice Mischief Magic
- Practice Untamed Magic
- Practice Speech
- Heated Duel
- Instruct About Safety Standards (new interaction added)
- Interview the Witness (new interaction added)
- Study Protocols (new interaction added)
- Inspect Compliance (new interactions added)
- Search for Evidence (new interaction added)
2) New Career Tone added (action to be performed when Sim is at work): Analyze Reports - as a result Sim will get new evidence
3) Inspect Compliance system - your Sim can inspect wand, broom permits, registry in the census, or level of magical charge. If they find some compliance issue (e.g. a wand in the inventory but lack of wand permit), they can give a formal warning or impose a fee. Your choice. You can also issue a permit and solve any future problems for the inspected Sim.
4) New requirement for promotion - Solve a Case
During the investigation you need to collect evidences. There are various ways to do it, like interviewing witnesses (any spellcaster), or searching for evidence by clicking on the ground, or by studying protocols etc.
Once you have enough evidence, you can get Arrest Warrant and with that you can start Council Interrogation event.
5) New event - Council Interrogation
By interrogating suspects you need to determine a guilty Sim and detain them. You can however make a mistake and detain a wrong Sim. In this case you will loose your Arrest Warrant and some evidence, and you'll need to collect evidence again. Not from the scratch, but some more to get a new Arrest Warrant. But if you determined correctly a guilty Sim - you will be able to Enforce the Sentence. There are 2 options available, your choice which one you'll choose: 1st - Morphiate a Sim (but not for 2 hours, but at least for a day or 2); 2nd - completely strip the Sim from magical powers.
